Xavi outlines how Barcelona hope to overcome Real Madrid in the Supercopa Clasico.

Xavi claims Barcelona would want to “dominate” Real Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana final by fighting “toe to toe” with Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Osasuna secured their spot in the final versus Madrid, who defeated Atletico Madrid 5-3 on Wednesday.

It’s a rematch of last season’s final, which Barcelona won 3-1. Xavi’s team won the next two Clasicos, but Madrid has won the previous two games, including a 2-1 success at Camp Nou in October.

Despite Barcelona’s lackluster performance, Xavi remains optimistic in the team’s ability to defeat Madrid.

“Our methodology, our way of playing, the team we have, and the way we compete against Madrid,” Xavi said as grounds for his optimism.

“The model to follow is last year’s final, which we won 3-1. We were considerably better. And, despite losing to Madrid in La Liga this season, we performed admirably until the 60th minute. We feel we could have gotten more out of the game.

“We have to take the ball from Madrid and our DNA must shine through more than ever. Madrid are in better form than last year, but we will try to dominate them and play toe-to-toe

“It’s the ideal setting and moment for us to show our best football. We are up for it.”

Xavi confirmed midfielder Pedri is in contention to start the final after impressing off the bench against Osasuna, but Brazilian winger Raphinha will require further checks after picking up a knock on Thursday.
