Wolverine recruiting report: Can Michigan keep 4-star CB commit in the fold?
Four-star cornerback Brody Jennings is Michigan’s longest-tenured commitment in its 2026 recruiting class, announcing his verbal pledge in July 2024.
The Wolverines only have five other prospects committed this cycle and will be looking to expand that number during an important summer on the recruiting trail. But another one of their top priorities is keeping Jennings in the fold.Although he is still locked in with Michigan, the Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin standout is considering other options. The No. 274 prospect nationally and No. 23 cornerback, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, is coming off a recent visit to Auburn this month and also plans to take official visits to Miami, Florida and Georgia this summer before ending his tour with a trip to Ann Arbor June 20-22.
A common theme among the other top four interested schools? Location in Southeastern Conference territory.
“I think it’s definitely going to be a challenge,” 247Sports recruiting analyst Allen Trieu said of Michigan fending off other contenders. “It was a challenge almost from the minute that he committed. Other schools were still coming at him. I don’t think this is catching Michigan by surprise. This is always one I think they’ve been protecting ever since the verbal commitment, but I do think it is going to be a challenge because these schools are obviously a little bit closer to home. They’re all going to try to wow them on his official visit. They know that Michigan’s the school they’re gunning for. Obviously, the advantage for Michigan is they get the final official visit.”
Jennings’ recruitment has surged since the end of his junior year, picking up a handful of other offers to push his total to over 30. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder is currently the only cornerback committed for the Wolverines in 2026.Michigan has had trouble keeping Florida recruits committed in recent cycles, too. Last year, four-star cornerback Chris Ewald flipped to Miami, while four-star safety Ivan Taylor, a top-100 prospect, switched his commitment to Alabama.
In the 2023 class, five-star linebacker Raylen Wilson decommitted from the Wolverines before later signing with Georgia.
“It’s a challenge, especially pulling a guy from the heart of SEC territory,” The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich said. “That’s gonna be a pretty crucial visit for Michigan to try and lock things up and keep him in the fold.”
It appeared Auburn narrowed the gap in Jennings’ recruitment, and other schools will soon get their opportunity to do the same.
