On Monday, a report surfaced that Texas freshman offensive lineman Nick Brooks was arrested early Sunday morning on a DWI charge. Head coach Steve Sarkisian is aware of the situation and is currently gathering information, according to Austin American-Statesman’s David Eckert.
Brooks was a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class and enrolled early to participate in spring practice with hopes of getting a head start on his college career. The 6-foot-7, 353-pound offensive tackle chose the Longhorns over Iowa, Georgia and USC among others
It’s unclear if Sarkisian will choose to suspend and/or remove Brooks from the roster. Texas’ head coach typically provides very minimal room for error when it comes to legal trouble.
Texas’ 2025 recruiting class finished No. 1 in the nation with four five-star prospects including safety Jonah Williams, defensive lineman Justus Terry, wide receiver Kaliq Lockett and cornerback Kade Phillips.
