Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward had one of the best seasons of any college QB in recent memory in 2024, catapulting him to being the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday.
When Ward’s name is called by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, he’ll presumably be surrounded by family and friends, and among that group will likely be his girlfriend Nailah Landon.
Landon has four siblings, and her cousin Patrick Nelson played safety for two seasons at Illinois (2016, 2017) and two seasons at SMU (2018, 2019).Ward met Landon, who was a star athlete in volleyball, basketball, and track and field, earning Metro Suburban All-Conference honors in high school at IC Catholic Prep, during their days at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, where Ward played from 2020 to 2021.
Landon continued her volleyball career at Barry University before transferring to Incarnate Word, where she stayed to study communications and media studies even after Ward transferred to Washington State.According to her LinkedIn profile, Landon spent most of last year as a marketing coordinator for Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins — a sign that she followed Ward to Miami after he transferred last offseason.
