After leading Ohio State to a College Football Playoff National Championship, head coach Ryan Day future with the Buckeyes seems more secure than ever. Athletic director Ross Bjork, who stood by Day when others called for his removal, continues to show full confidence in his leadership. Although Bjork didn’ t provide details about a potential contract extension, he made it clear that Ohio State is committed to Day for the long haul.
The business pieces are all moving targets, but we want to enjoy the moment, Bjork said.The message is he our guy. We believe in him.
Day current contract, signed in 2022, runs through 2028, and he earning approximately $10 million annually, placing him fifth among the highest-paid college football coaches. He trails only Kirby Smart of Georgia, Dabo Swinney of Clemson, Steve Sarkisian of Texas, and Lincoln Riley of USC.
Bjork emphasized the importance of stability in college football, saying, “When you have clarity and alignment from the board, president, AD, and coach, you want to lock that in.
