In a display of unparalleled dominance, the Penn State Nittany Lions have etched their name into NCAA wrestling history. At the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Penn State achieved the extraordinary feat of producing 10 All-Americans in a single season—becoming only the second team ever to accomplish this, following Minnesota’s 2001 squad .
Under the masterful guidance of head coach Cael Sanderson, the Nittany Lions didn’t just match history—they redefined it. All ten starters not only earned All-American honors but also placed within the top six of their respective weight classes, a testament to the team’s depth and consistency .
The individual achievements were equally remarkable. Carter Starocci made NCAA history by becoming the first wrestler to win five national titles, securing his fifth at the 184-pound weight class after previously winning four at 174 pounds . Mitchell Mesenbrink also clinched an individual championship, contributing to Penn State’s overall success .
Collectively, the team’s performance culminated in a record-breaking 177 team points, surpassing their own previous record of 172.5 set in 2024 . This victory marks Penn State’s 13th national team title and their 12th under Sanderson’s leadership .
As the Nittany Lions continue to build upon their legacy, the question remains: who can possibly stop this unstoppable dynasty?
