Victor Osimhen-Man Utd Swap Deal in Motion as Club Official Travels for Transfer Talks
A potential blockbuster swap deal involving Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Manchester United is reportedly gaining momentum, with fresh developments suggesting serious negotiations are underway. According to multiple reports, a high-ranking Napoli official has flown to England to hold direct talks with Manchester United representatives, sparking speculation that a major transfer involving player exchanges could be on the cards this summer.
Osimhen, 25, has long been linked with a move to the Premier League following his stellar performances in Serie A. He played a key role in Napoli’s 2022-23 Scudetto-winning campaign and has since remained one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards. Despite signing a contract extension in late 2023, his release clause – believed to be around €130 million – has kept the door open for interested clubs.
Manchester United, under the leadership of INEOS and with plans to rebuild the squad, see Osimhen as a potential long-term solution to their goal-scoring issues. However, a straight-cash deal could be financially challenging given the club’s FFP constraints and other transfer priorities. As a result, a swap deal is being considered, with players like Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, or even Anthony Martial being discussed as possible makeweights.
Greenwood, who impressed on loan at Getafe, has attracted interest from several European clubs and could appeal to Napoli as part of the negotiation. Including a player in the deal would significantly reduce the upfront cost for United while allowing Napoli to reinforce their squad.
While talks are still at an early stage, the involvement of top officials indicates both clubs are seriously exploring a mutually beneficial agreement. If completed, the deal could mark one of the biggest transfers of the summer, reshaping both Napoli’s and United’s attacking
futures.
