Tyrese Proctor may not become a lottery pick, but he’s bloo

Tyrese Proctor, a 6-foot-5 junior guard from Sydney, Australia, has emerged as a pivotal player for Duke University during the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Despite earlier projections that placed him outside the lottery picks for the upcoming NBA Draft, Proctor’s recent performances have significantly bolstered his draft stock and solidified his importance to the Blue Devils.

In Duke’s second-round matchup against Baylor, Proctor delivered a stellar performance, leading the team with a career-high 25 points. He achieved remarkable efficiency, shooting 9-of-10 from the field, including an impressive 8-of-9 from three-point range. This display not only secured Duke’s 89-66 victory but also underscored Proctor’s potential as a sharpshooter.

Proctor’s exceptional shooting has been a consistent theme throughout the tournament. Over the past three games, he has converted at least six three-pointers in each, boasting a 63.3% success rate from beyond the arc. This proficiency has placed him among the top performers in the tournament, drawing the attention of NBA scouts and analysts.

His contributions extend beyond scoring; Proctor’s high basketball IQ and playmaking abilities have been instrumental in Duke’s success. He thrives in pick-and-roll situations, demonstrating a natural feel for reading defenses and making smart decisions under pressure.

Despite these impressive performances, Proctor’s NBA draft projections remain varied. Before the tournament, he was considered a late first to mid-second round pick. However, his recent play has led some analysts to reassess his potential, with discussions suggesting a possible rise in his draft stock.

Duke’s head coach, Jon Scheyer, has expressed deep appreciation for Proctor’s resilience and growth. Reflecting on Proctor’s journey, Scheyer noted, “Things haven’t always worked out exactly as planned for Tyrese, but the Duke guard isn’t the type of person to jump ship when the waters get rough.”

As Duke advances to the Sweet 16, Proctor’s performances will continue to be a focal point. His ability to deliver under pressure not only enhances Duke’s championship aspirations but also positions him as a rising prospect in the eyes of NBA teams. Regardless of his draft position, Proctor’s evolution throughout March Madness has been a testament to his dedication and skill, marking a significant chapter in his basketball career.
