Chiefs Shore Up Defensive Interior, Select Tennessee’s Omarr Norman-Lott with No. 133 Pick in 2025 NFL Draft
Kansas City, MO — April 27, 2025
The reigning Super Bowl champions just added more firepower to their defensive trenches.
With the 133rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott out of the University of Tennessee — a gritty, battle-tested lineman whose motor and explosiveness could quickly make him a fan favorite at Arrowhead.
Standing 6’3″ and weighing 305 pounds, Norman-Lott isn’t just a space-eater; he’s a disruptor. After transferring to Tennessee from Arizona State, the California native found his stride in the SEC, showcasing rare burst off the snap and a relentless drive that helped anchor the Volunteers’ front seven. In 2024, he racked up 38 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks — often flashing on film as a one-man wrecking crew in the interior.
Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach praised Norman-Lott’s attitude and versatility during his post-pick press conference.
> “We love what Omarr brings — he’s tough, he’s physical, and he’s got that edge we look for,” Veach said. “He’s played in different systems, adapted fast, and always stood out when the lights were brightest.”
The pick signals Kansas City’s continued investment in maintaining dominance in the trenches. With veteran Chris Jones entering the twilight of his career and depth becoming a concern down the stretch last season, Norman-Lott’s arrival couldn’t come at a better time. His play style — quick hands, powerful leverage, and natural gap-shooting instincts — mirrors many traits found in successful Chiefs defenders of the past.
“I’m ready to work,” Norman-Lott said during his first interview as a Chief. “This team plays with heart and grit. I want to be part of that tradition. I want to hit the ground running.”
While some scouts projected Norman-Lott to be a Day 3 pick due to limited tape as a full-time starter, Kansas City clearly sees upside in his raw power and development curve. With coaching from Steve Spagnuolo’s staff and mentorship from veterans in the locker room, Norman-Lott could blossom into a rotational weapon — or more — in the Chiefs’ defense.
As Kansas City continues to reload for another championship run, the addition of a hungry, high-ceiling lineman like Norman-Lott could prove to be a crucial chess move.
Just another calculated strike from a dynasty that knows how to win — from the trenches out.
