Mark Pope has his roster set for the 2025-26 season, which features a solid mix of high school recruits, transfers, and players returning from last season’s squad.
One player, however, who is now in a new uniform is Lyon County’s own Travis Perry. Now in Oxford playing for Ole Miss, his decision to transfer came at the last minute as the portal window closed. Coach Pope was very open about how upset he was to lose Perry to the Rebels, and now we get to hear Perry open up about the decision.
“It’s a difficult decision for anybody to get in the portal,” Perry said in a press conference this week. “Just felt like, at the end of the day, you’ve got to make the best decision for yourself and your basketball career.
“You only get so much time to do it, only so much time to play basketball. So it felt like I made the decision that myself and my family felt like was best for my basketball career.”
Perry will always be beloved by the fanbase, and who knows maybe one day we will see him back in Lexington. Overall, the decision to go and play quickly made a ton of sense.
Hope he crushes it in Oxford, except when they play Kentucky in Rupp Arena.
