Transfer Target: Texas Tech high on the list for OT Keegan Collins

Keegan Collins, a rising offensive tackle from Amarillo (TX) West Plains, continues to impress with solid offers rolling in this spring after not having any offers coming into 2025. That quickly changed in January, with offers from North Texas, UTSA, UTEP, and FAU coming in first.

Fast forward to February and Texas Tech’s offer made it the first one from a Power 4 school. Rated as a Rivals three-star prospect, Collins has now attracted offers from other Big 12 programs such as Oklahoma State, UCF, Arizona, and Kansas State.

Lubbock, TX – The Texas Tech Red Raiders are reportedly making significant headway in the recruitment of 2026 offensive tackle prospect Keegan Collins. The 6-foot-6, 277-pound standout from West Plains High School in Amarillo, Texas, recently completed an official visit to Lubbock, and by all accounts, the experience left a lasting positive impression.

Collins, rated as a high three-star prospect by major recruiting services, is considered one of the top offensive line talents in the state for his class. His blend of size, athleticism, and developing technique has garnered attention from numerous programs across the country. However, recent reports suggest that Texas Tech, under the guidance of head coach Joey McGuire and his staff, has positioned itself as a serious contender for Collins’ commitment.

According to RedRaiderSports.com, Collins described his official visit as eye-opening, stating that the Texas Tech program provided “perfect” answers to his questions. This positive feedback indicates that the coaching staff effectively addressed Collins’ concerns and showcased the opportunities available to him in Lubbock.

Offensive line is a crucial area of focus for the Red Raiders in the 2026 recruiting cycle. With a couple of offensive line commits already secured, the addition of a high-potential player like Collins would further solidify their future depth and talent in the trenches. Collins’ frame and mobility make him an intriguing prospect at the tackle position, possessing the raw tools that the Texas Tech coaching staff could mold into a dominant force in the Big 12 Conference.

While Texas Tech has seemingly made a strong impression, the recruiting battle for Collins is far from over. He holds offers from over a dozen schools, including Big 12 rivals Oklahoma State and Kansas State, as well as programs like Arizona, Boise State, and Arkansas. Collins has official visits lined up with several of these schools in the coming weeks, indicating that he is taking a thorough approach to his recruitment.

The relationship between Collins and Texas Tech could be strengthened by his prior connection with current Red Raider defensive tackle commit Krush Johnson, who was a youth teammate of Collins in Amarillo. This familiarity could provide Texas Tech with an edge as Collins navigates his decision-making process.

Collins hopes to narrow down his list of top schools by mid-June, suggesting that a decision could be on the horizon. The coming weeks will be critical for Texas Tech as they look to capitalize on the positive momentum from his visit and secure a commitment from this promising in-state offensive line prospect. Landing Collins would be a significant victory on the recruiting trail for Coach McGuire and his staff, further bolstering their efforts to build a competitive and sustainable program in Lubbock.
