Ashaad Williams, a standout cornerback from North Alabama, is making waves in the transfer portal with multiple high-profile visits scheduled. The 6-foot-2, 178-pound defensive back has garnered attention from several Power Five programs following his impressive junior season.
During the 2024 season, Williams emerged as a key player for the North Alabama Lions, recording 26 total tackles, two interceptions, and eight passes defended. His performance has positioned him as one of the top available cornerbacks in the transfer portal.
Williams entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer on March 6, 2025, and since then, he has received offers from numerous programs, including Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kansas, Western Kentucky, New Mexico, UTEP, Old Dominion, and Kent State. He has narrowed his options to a top four of Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kansas, and Purdue.
As part of his recruitment process, Williams is set to visit several schools. He will visit Arkansas from March 14-16, Michigan State on March 19, and Purdue on March 28.
At Michigan State, Williams would join a program that has shown significant interest in bolstering its secondary. The Spartans have been active in the transfer portal, aiming to enhance their defensive backfield for the upcoming season. Williams’ length and athleticism would add depth and experience to Michigan State’s defense.
At Purdue, Williams would have the opportunity to contribute immediately to a defense that is looking to improve upon its previous season’s performance. The Boilermakers’ coaching staff has been proactive in recruiting transfer defensive backs, and Williams’ skill set aligns with their defensive needs.
Following his visit to Arkansas, Williams will have the chance to evaluate how each program aligns with his athletic and academic goals. The upcoming visits will be crucial in determining where he will continue his collegiate football career.
As the transfer portal continues to influence college football rosters, players like Williams play a pivotal role in shaping the competitive landscape. His decision will not only impact his future but also the fortunes of the program he chooses.
