Transfer News:According to Cameron Wolfe, the Ravens plan to release CB Arthur Maulet on Tuesday.

According to reports from NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe and The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Baltimore Ravens are set to release veteran cornerback Arthur Maulet. This move comes after an injury-plagued 2024 season, during which Maulet appeared in only three games. The release is expected to free up $2.2 million in cap space for the Ravens.

Arthur Maulet’s NFL Journey

Arthur Maulet, born on July 13, 1993, in New Orleans, Louisiana, has had a journeyman career in the NFL. Undrafted in 2017, he signed with the New Orleans Saints, where he had multiple stints between the active roster and practice squad. He also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and returned to the Saints before joining the New York Jets in 2019. Maulet’s tenure with the Jets was marked by significant contributions, including his first career sack against Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020.

In 2021, Maulet signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played two seasons and recorded his first career interception. He joined the Ravens in July 2023 on a one-year contract, appearing in 14 games and recording 37 tackles and one interception. He re-signed with Baltimore in March 2024 on a two-year deal but was limited to just three games in the 2024 season due to injuries.

Impact and Future Outlook

Maulet’s release reflects the Ravens’ efforts to manage their salary cap and roster health. While his time in Baltimore was marred by injuries, his earlier seasons demonstrated his potential as a valuable slot cornerback and special teams contributor. At 31, Maulet may continue his career with another team, likely in a depth role, bringing experience and versatility to a secondary unit.

As the Ravens move forward, they will look to strengthen their cornerback position, potentially targeting younger talent or exploring free-agent options to bolster their defense. Maulet’s departure opens the door for new opportunities within Baltimore’s secondary.
