TRANSFER HAUL: Texas A&M Lands Oklahoma State Duo Edwards and Wark to Bolster Roster Depth
In a major offseason boost for Texas A&M athletics, the Aggies have secured commitments from two former Oklahoma State standouts — linebacker Justin Edwards and tight end Carson Wark — through the NCAA transfer portal. This double acquisition is seen as a strategic move by head coach Mike Elko to strengthen both sides of the ball ahead of a highly anticipated 2025 campaign.
Justin Edwards, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker, was a key contributor to the Cowboys’ defense over the past two seasons. Known for his aggressive tackling and sideline-to-sideline speed, Edwards recorded 67 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks in 2024. His instincts and football IQ made him a leader in Stillwater, and now he brings that same edge to College Station.
“Justin is a game-changer,” Elko said. “He brings toughness, athleticism, and a deep understanding of defensive schemes. He’s someone we expect to make an immediate impact both on and off the field.”
On the offensive side, Carson Wark adds a unique dimension to the Aggies’ tight end room. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, Wark is a reliable target in the passing game and a disciplined blocker. He caught 24 passes for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns last season and is known for his soft hands and route-running ability — qualities that fit seamlessly into Texas A&M’s evolving offensive system.
“Carson is one of the more complete tight ends in the portal,” offensive coordinator Collin Klein said. “He gives us flexibility in our formations and can help us in both the run and pass games. He’s a big-time addition for us.”
The transfers come at a pivotal moment for Texas A&M, which is entering a new era under Elko following the departure of Jimbo Fisher. With key roster spots needing depth and experience, the arrivals of Edwards and Wark offer proven talent from a respected Big 12 program. Their familiarity with high-level competition will be crucial as the Aggies aim to reassert themselves as SEC contenders.
Both players cited Texas A&M’s culture, facilities, and coaching vision as deciding factors in their transfer decisions.
“From the moment I got on campus, it felt like home,” said Edwards. “The way Coach Elko runs things — it’s all about discipline, family, and winning. That’s the kind of environment I want to be in.”
Wark echoed those sentiments: “The opportunity to compete in the SEC and be part of something special at A&M was too good to pass up. I’m ready to give everything I’ve got.”
As summer workouts approach, both transfers are expected to join the team immediately and participate in fall camp. With high expectations looming, the additions of Edwards and Wark might be just what Texas A&M needs to take the next step.
This double splash in the portal signals that the Aggies mean business in 2025 — and they’re not done yet.
