Duncan Powell, a 6-foot-8 forward native from Dallas, Texas, launched his collegiate career at North Carolina A&T, where he earned CAA All-Freshman honors and averaged 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game over two seasons.
His time with the Aggies laid the groundwork for greater opportunities at the Division I level, transferring to Sacramento State before breaking out at Georgia Tech.
In the 2024-25 season with the Yellow Jackets, Powell averaged a career-high 12.2 points per game, shooting an efficient 35.8% from beyond the arc. In the 2023-24 campaign with Sacramento State, Powell emerged as the Hornets’ leading scorer and rebounder, posting 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field and 69% from the free-throw line.
He had seven 20-point performances the following season at Georgia Tech, including a 24-point outburst against Duke in the ACC Tournament.Providence was one of several high-major programs that pursued Powell’s services, attracted by his scoring versatility and frontcourt experience.
With a proven ability to stretch the floor and crash the boards, he is expected to slot in as a stretch-four option or key sixth man, offering Coach Kim English an immediate injection of veteran leadership and scoring punch
