It’s that time of year again. As fans of every college football team take the time to debate which football helmets in every respective conference reign supreme among the majority, with a focus on the SEC, which now includes Texas and Oklahoma to make the already dominant conference that much more intimidating to the rest of the pack.
Vanity may be frowned upon in daily life, but when it comes to the color scheme, respect for the institution, honoring former players, and making various political and societal statements make helmets more than just protecting a player’s noggin during games and practices. Over the years, all 16 SEC teams have made various changes, but have kept core colors and, for the most part, emblems intact.
However, like the NFL’s color rush experiment, teams have embraced multiple color variations, Texas A&M for example, will usually go full maroon for home games and white helmets/maroon jerseys for road games, while an all-black helmet/jersey is also a cool look the program has tested out with nearly every recent and current coaching staff.
Here is another edition of the SEC helmet rankings ahead of the 2025 college football season. Enjoy!
