The 28-year-old joined the Hammers on loan from Brentford in October 2020 before committing to a permanent transfer a few months later.
Benrahma has subsequently made 152 appearances for West Ham in all competitions, although has only made four Premier League starts this season.
As a result, Lyon, who are now 15th in Ligue 1, are interested in signing the Algerian international when the January transfer market opens.

Benrahma is open to a trade after having his playing time cut this season to just over 1,000 minutes in 19 games.
Former Hammers coach Stuart Pearce remarked on talkSPORT before of West Ham’s match against Manchester United, in which Benrahma began on the bench: “It’s not surprising to me.”
“I think I read somewhere that Saudi [Arabia] might be interested in him as well.
“I don’t think he’s played regularly enough and consistently enough here to say they need to hang on to him.
“It might be time for him to move on potentially and reinvest the money.”
Benrahma currently competes with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus for starting spots in the West Ham line-up.
This season, the pair have scored 12 and eight goals in all competitions for the east London club, respectively, and are vital to the team.
Benrahma did start all three of West Ham’s Carabao Cup matches, with the only defeat coming against Liverpool earlier this week.
He has also started four of their six Europa League group stage matches, although his Premier League experience is minimal.
His last top-flight start came in a 3-2 setback at the hands of his previous side Brentford in early November.
Benrahma is still without a goal for West Ham this season, and Lyon might be his next destination.
