Georgia football is one of the programs with the highest expectations across the country. The goal every year is to win a National Championship, and anything less than that will feel like somewhat of a disappointment. So if Georgia does not live up to those expectations then fans automatically feel the need to blame someone.
Typically that blame is handed out to certain members of the coaching staff. Kirby Smart receives his fair share of blame, but no fan will ever suggest getting rid of him. That however isn’t the case for his assistants.
Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has received as much blame as anyone this offseason, with a large portion of the fanbase begging for him to be fired. That ultimately has not happened and won’t be happening this offseason, but Georgia fans still question if he should be responsible for Georgia’s offense.
Complaining about Bobo is old news though, so some fans have decided to shift their anger towards a new coach on the offensive side of the ball.
Georgia fans want offensive line coach Stacy Searels fired
The new coach that some Georgia fans want fired is offensive line coach Stacy Searels. The reason for this is very similar to Bobo, because fans think the offense as a whole was not good enough during the 2024 season. And one of the biggest reasons why was because of a decrease in play from Georgia’s offensive line.Sure the offensive line wasn’t good enough last season, but that really wasn’t the fault of any one person. The biggest reason why the line struggled was due to injuries and having to shuffle players in and out all across the line. This made it impossible to form any type of connection as a group that is so important for an offensive line to excel.
If Georgia’s offensive line continues to struggle this coming season then maybe Searels should be on the hot seat, but one below average season due to injuries should never be enough to let someone go, especially after a season that ended in an SEC Championship
