The recruiting battles that will shape the FSU vs. Miami rivalry in 2024

The longstanding rivalry between Florida State University (FSU) and the University of Miami is set to heat up in 2024, not just on the field but in recruiting as well.

Both programs, under coaches Mike Norvell at FSU and Mario Cristobal at Miami, are targeting top high school talent in Florida and nationwide to restore their programs to national prominence. As they prepare for another season of ACC clashes, the recruiting battle for elite talent has taken center stage, setting the tone for years to come.

FSU is currently riding a wave of momentum, with Norvell rebuilding the Seminoles’ reputation as a formidable program. Known for his skill in player development and building relationships, Norvell has been appealing to recruits looking to make an immediate impact. FSU is heavily targeting versatile athletes like 4-star defensive end Elijah Rushing and linebacker Adarius Hayes. Securing commitments from such key defensive players could solidify their position among ACC elites.

Meanwhile, Miami is making an aggressive push under Cristobal, who has a proven track record in recruiting top players. With Miami’s strong presence in South Florida, Cristobal has an edge in attracting local talent, which he hopes will form the backbone of the Hurricanes’ resurgence. One key target is 5-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader, a local standout with game-changing abilities. Adding him to the roster could give Miami the offensive firepower they need to challenge FSU.

These recruiting battles not only intensify the rivalry but also shape the programs’ trajectories. With each school aiming to dominate in Florida, the stakes are high. Fans of both teams eagerly await signing day to see which program emerges with the upper hand—a factor that could decide the balance of power in one of college football’s most storied rivalries.
