Son of Vikings legend begins what could be a beautiful new chapter.
On Friday, Montigo Moss, the son of legendary former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss, got his first opportunity to write his own story for a franchise that has made a gigantic impact on his family during the last three 25 years.
After a respectable college career at the University of Maine, Moss was invited to this year’s Vikings rookie mini-camp to try out for the team. On Friday, he got his first chance to make an impression on Minnesota’s coaching staff as the team kicked off its 2025 rookie mini-camp.Within the next few days, Moss will find out if he did enough to earn a spot on the Vikings’ 90-man roster and begin his own journey with a team whose record books are filled with his father’s accomplishments.Moss’s best single-game performance for Maine in 2024 took place in a November matchup against Bryant when he finished with seven catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns.
At 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, he’s not as long and lanky as his dad was in his prime with the Vikings. During Maine’s Pro Day earlier this year, Moss ran a 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds and had a vertical of 34 inches, according to data from bnbfootball.com.
While his pre-draft testing numbers aren’t going to blow anyone away, Moss developed a reputation in his college career as an excellent route-runner with deceptive speed.
In his final college season at Maine in 2024, Moss led the team with 61 catches for 722 yards and seven touchdowns. In five years at the school, he accumulated a total of 143 receptions for 1,692 yards and 16 trips to the end zone. In 2023, he also threw a 24-yard touchdown pass in a game against Richmond
