Miami’s $4 million Carson Beck addition met with sour ACC projection.
The football world was stunned when former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck announced he would enter the transfer portal instead of declaring for the NFL Draft. Beck had been Georgia’s starting quarterback for the past two seasons, but this year, he’ll be in Coral Gables, attempting to fill the shoes of No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward.
From the moment Beck entered the portal, many assumed he was headed to Miami, largely due to his ex-girlfriend Hanna Cavinder being a member of the school’s basketball team. Both Beck and Cavinder publicly stated that Beck made the decision independently. However, following their breakup, it was revealed that Cavinder may have played a role in his choice. At the same time he lowkey embarrassed himself, he went to Miami because of you,” Kai Trump said.
Beck was reportedly offered $4.3 million to become Miami’s next quarterback. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin couldn’t resist taking a jab at the situation.Miami gave him $4.3 million?” Kiffin said, surprised. “Did they watch his game against us?”
Despite being one of the top players in the transfer portal, Beck landed at No. 2 in the spring transfer rankings.

“The elbow injury is also the lone reason Beck wasn’t the No. 1 player in our transfer rankings. Beck was limited during spring practice, but the experience he brings to the table as a two-year starter is hard to beat,” Max Olson wrote.
Beck’s arrival certainly boosts the Hurricanes’ chances of contending for the ACC Championship. Still, the latest win projections have them tied for second place with three other conference teams. On paper, Miami and Clemson appear to be the top contenders for the ACC title.
However, Louisville and SMU are also generating buzz and could pose serious threats. While adding Beck brought much-needed experience to the quarterback position, it wasn’t enough to vault Miami to the top. Still, after a disappointing end to last season, the Hurricanes should enter this year with plenty of motivation
