Texas Tech Signee Hannah Wells Named 2024–2025 Gatorade National Player of the Year After Dominant Season at Coahoma
LUBBOCK, Texas — The future of Texas Tech softball just got even brighter.
Hannah Wells, the Red Raiders’ prized 2024 signee, has been crowned the Gatorade National Player of the Year after a jaw-dropping senior campaign that saw her lead Coahoma High School to a near-perfect 35–1 record and a 3A Division II state championship.
Wells, a two-way phenom known for her commanding presence on the mound and consistent power at the plate, dominated opponents all season, posting an ERA under 1.00 and tallying over 300 strikeouts while batting well over .500. Her leadership and poise during Coahoma’s title run earned her nationwide praise — and now, one of the most prestigious honors in high school athletics.
“This is more than an individual award — it reflects the support of my coaches, teammates, and community,” Wells said. “I’m so grateful, and I can’t wait to get to Lubbock and start the next chapter.”
For Texas Tech head coach Craig Snider, Wells’ recognition is a statement that the Red Raiders are entering a new era of national relevance. “Hannah is a game-changer,” Snider said. “She’s the kind of player you build a program around, and we’re beyond excited to see what she brings to our locker room.”
Wells becomes the first Texas Tech softball signee in history to win the Gatorade National Player of the Year, solidifying her as one of the most anticipated arrivals in program history.
With her blend of talent, work ethic, and big-game mentality, Red Raider fans have every reason to believe a championship-caliber future is already in motion — and it’s wearing No. 24.
