Texas Softball’s Future Shines Bright with Gatorade National Player of the Year Hannah Wells

The pipeline of elite talent heading to Austin shows no signs of slowing down.
Texas Softball just added another superstar to its roster with the signing of Hannah Wells, the 2024–2025 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year. The Coahoma standout delivered a historic season that turned heads nationwide and cemented her legacy in Texas high school softball history.
Wells led Coahoma High School to the 3A Division II State Championship while helping the team post a dominant 35–1 overall record. In the circle, she was nearly untouchable — going 22-1 with a 0.44 ERA, while racking up a staggering 258 strikeouts. But Wells didn’t just dominate on the mound. At the plate, she was just as fearsome, hitting .602 with 75 RBIs and blasting a Texas single-season record 31 home runs.
Her all-around brilliance is what separates her from the rest. Whether dealing from the rubber or sending moonshots over the fence, Wells controlled every aspect of the game. Her rare combination of power, precision, and poise makes her a game-changer — and exactly what Texas Softball needs as it continues to chase national titles.
Wells’ arrival adds another layer of firepower to a program already trending upward under head coach Mike White. With her in the fold, the Longhorns are not just recruiting talent — they’re building a dynasty.
Keep an eye on Austin. The addition of Hannah Wells could be the spark that takes Texas Softball to even greater heights in the coming seasons.
