Texas continues to bolster its defensive front with another key transfer addition. On Wednesday morning, former Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu announced his commitment to the Longhorns for the 2025 season, per One Hayes Fawcett.
Kanu, who spent three seasons with the Buckeyes, played primarily as a rotational piece on Ohio State’s talent-laden defensive line. Over the past two years, he recorded 14 tackles and one sack, earning 123 snaps in the 2024 season, according to Pro Football Focus.
Originally a four-star recruit from California, Kanu was ranked No. 129 overall in the 2022 class by the 247Sports Composite. Now, at Texas, he will have an opportunity to take on a larger role and maximize his potential.
The Longhorns have been aggressive in the transfer portal this offseason, securing five transfers, including three defensive linemen, signaling a clear effort to reinforce their defensive front for the 2025 campaign. With Kanu in the mix, Texas strengthens its depth and adds another talented piece to its defensive unit.
