TCU’s Sonny Dykes hires former star Baylor receiver for 2025 coaching staff

Sonny Dykes, head coach of the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs football team, has bolstered his coaching staff for the 2025 season with the addition of former Baylor University standout Corey Coleman. Coleman, who will assist with TCU’s wide receivers, brings a wealth of experience and a legacy of excellence to the role.

Corey Coleman’s Stellar Career

Coleman’s football journey is marked by remarkable achievements that have left an indelible mark on Baylor’s history. In 2015, he clinched the Biletnikoff Award, recognizing him as the nation’s premier wide receiver. That same year, he earned All-American honors for his exceptional performance on the field. Coleman set multiple records at Baylor, including being the first player in the university’s history to record two seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. He also established school records for touchdown receptions in a season (20 in 2015) and for a career (33). Following his collegiate success, Coleman was selected 15th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2016 NFL Draft. He retired from professional football in the spring of 2024.

Coleman’s Role at TCU

At TCU, Coleman will work closely with the wide receivers, aiming to leverage his extensive playing experience to mentor and develop the team’s talent. His firsthand knowledge of high-level competition and his track record of success position him to make a significant impact on TCU’s offensive strategies and player growth.

Additional Coaching Staff Updates

Alongside Coleman’s appointment, Coach Dykes has announced other key additions to the Horned Frogs’ coaching staff. Brian Norwood joins as the assistant coach for safeties. Norwood brings a wealth of experience, having served in various coaching roles, including assistant head coach and safeties coach at UCLA, where he contributed to the team’s defensive successes. His coaching journey also includes stints at institutions like Navy, Kansas State, Tulsa, and Baylor, highlighting his extensive background in defensive coaching.
