After his name popped up in trade rumors this week, Suns wing Grayson Allen was asked about those reports on Thursday and said during a media session that he’s not fazed by them, as Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports relays.
“My name has been in someone’s tweet every year since I joined the league. “I hardly pay any attention to it,” Allen said. “It usually makes me grin since it’s a bit comical. I’ve enjoyed playing here this season. I enjoy playing on this squad. “I do not want to be traded.
When asked if it is gratifying to have his name mentioned in trade rumors, Allen responded, “Usually it means someone else wants you. Hopefully, that is the case, and the squad you are playing for is not trying to get rid of you. So that may be rather flattering.”
For what it’s worth, while the Suns were believed to be evaluating what a package led by Allen and Nassir Little could bring back, I’d be astonished if the team moved him in the near weeks. Those discussions are most likely about due diligence, as Allen, at $8.9 million, is one of the few non-stars on the team making more than the minimum wage.
The former Duke star is perhaps Phoenix’s fourth-most important player and is having a career year, with 13.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, as well as a 50.3% field goal percentage and an NBA-best 48.0% three-point percentage.
