Marquise Henderson, dismissed by Clemson football, announces transfer to Liberty
CLEMSON — Clemson football 2025 signee Marquise Henderson, who was dismissed from the program, announced on social media he has transferred to Liberty on June 25.
Henderson entered the transfer portal on June 20 after Clemson dismissed him from the program a day prior. Clemson did not specify why he was removed from the team. He became the seventh Clemson player to enter the portal this cycle.In a statement, a team spokesperson said, “Clemson has made the decision to dismiss Marquise Henderson from its program. We wish him the best as he moves forward.”
Henderson committed to Clemson on Dec. 11, 2023, over Arizona, Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, NC State, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Virginia Tech. He was a four-star athlete and the No. 4 player in South Carolina, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.Henderson was a mid-year enrollee, showing up on campus during Clemson’s College Football Playoff preparations. He missed most of spring practice with a hamstring injury.
Henderson’s departure dropped Clemson’s 2025 class to 14 players. The class was already Swinney’s lowest-rated since 2010 and his smallest class since 2017.
