Seth McLaughlin, a standout offensive lineman for Alabama and later Ohio State, has officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Reflecting on his remarkable college journey, McLaughlin took a moment to thank the coaches, teammates, and programs that shaped his career.
On Saturday, McLaughlin announced his decision, sharing heartfelt gratitude for the opportunities he had throughout his time in college football. Starting his career at Alabama as part of the 2020 national championship team, McLaughlin became a key figure on the Crimson Tide’s offensive line, starting at center from 2021 to 2023 before transferring to Ohio State for his final season.
“I want to thank Coach Saban for giving me a chance to play college football, as well as the opportunity to win three SEC Championships, one National Championship, and compete in three Playoff appearances,†McLaughlin wrote in his announcement.
At Ohio State, McLaughlin found a new home under head coach Ryan Day and offensive line coach Justin Frye. Though his season in Columbus was cut short by a season-ending injury, McLaughlin’s impact was undeniable. His stellar performances earned him a spot as one of three finalists for the Rimington Trophy, awarded annually to the nation’s top center.
With two national championships and four College Football Playoff appearances under his belt, McLaughlin leaves a legacy of excellence and resilience. As he prepares for the next chapter in his football career, all eyes will be on the talented center as he takes his shot at the NFL, injury challenges notwithstanding.
From Tuscaloosa to Columbus, McLaughlin’s journey has been marked by hard work, leadership, and gratitude—a foundation he’ll carry with him to the next level.
