Senior Bowl Stunner: Joe Milton’s Stock Skyrockets as NFL Teams Eye Hidden Gem

NFL Analyst Highlights Senior Bowl’s Impact on Tennessee Quarterback Joe Milton’s Rising Stock

NFL analyst Brian Baldinger has emphasized that the Senior Bowl has significantly boosted the value of New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton.

The annual showcase, which began earlier this week, has provided NFL teams with an opportunity to evaluate some of the most promising prospects in the upcoming draft class.

Among the positions under scrutiny, the quarterback group has drawn considerable attention, and Baldinger believes that the performances in Mobile, Alabama, have elevated Milton’s standing in the eyes of NFL decision-makers.

Joe Milton, who took over as the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers after Hendon Hooker’s departure, showcased flashes of potential during his collegiate career.

While the offense didn’t operate with the same efficiency under Milton as it did with Hooker, his raw talent and physical tools were enough to earn him a spot on an NFL roster.

The New England Patriots selected Milton in the sixth round of last year’s draft, and he spent the 2023 season as a backup. However, with the Patriots seemingly committing to Drake Maye as their future franchise quarterback, Milton’s role within the organization has become uncertain.

Despite this, Baldinger argues that Milton’s value has risen significantly after observing the quarterback prospects at the Senior Bowl. “After watching some of these quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl, I might conclude that Joe Milton is the best available option if I’m in the market for a quarterback right now,” Baldinger stated. “Teams could be doing backflips if they manage to negotiate a deal with the Patriots for his services.”

Milton’s limited regular-season action in 2023 further supports Baldinger’s assessment. In his lone appearance, Milton completed 76 percent of his passes for 241 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 16 rushing yards and another touchdown on 10 attempts.

These numbers, though from a small sample size, demonstrate Milton’s dual-threat capabilities and efficiency when given the opportunity. Nevertheless, with Drake Maye poised to take the reins as the Patriots’ long-term solution at quarterback, Milton’s future in New England remains unclear.

The Senior Bowl has historically served as a platform for prospects to elevate their draft stock, and this year’s event has reinforced the value of experienced players like Milton.

With several questions surrounding the quarterback class in the upcoming draft, Baldinger’s endorsement of Milton as a potential solution for quarterback-needy teams could spark increased interest in the former Tennessee standout. NFL organizations are perpetually in search of talented arms, and Milton’s combination of size, arm strength, and athleticism makes him an intriguing option for teams looking to bolster their quarterback depth.

As the NFL offseason progresses, the buzz surrounding Joe Milton is likely to grow.

Whether he remains with the Patriots or finds a new home via trade or free agency, his performance at the Senior Bowl and Baldinger’s endorsement have undoubtedly positioned him as a player to watch in the coming months.

For teams in need of a quarterback with untapped potential, Milton could represent a low-risk, high-reward acquisition in a market that often favors proven commodities.
