Matt Turner, a former goalkeeper for Arsenal, has acknowledged that he is happy the Premier League’s inquiry into Nottingham Forest is finished. Due to their violation of expenditure regulations, the team lost four points and fell into the relegation zone, below Luton Town.
Although Turner said it was “difficult” to have the points deduction looming, he disclosed that the possible punishment had become a topic of discussion in the dressing room. The club openly voiced their unhappiness with the decision.
He said, “It’s better now that you know your fate is now in your own hands,” in an interview with Mail Sport. “You now have a clear understanding of your position, and I believe that when roles are specified, players perform better overall. Thus, we are aware of how We can address the numerous areas we’ve missed because it’s simpler to handle things when you have control over them.
“In some ways, I think we’re living in unparalleled circumstances in the Premier League. Is the punishment for breaking the rules simply a fixed number of points? Or does it depend on the severity of the breach? And what’s the cutoff point? The players are waiting to see since we don’t know.”
Another team fined this season for violating sustainability and profit regulations is Everton. In November, they dropped ten points, which was later lowered to six after an appeal.
