Most recently during the 2024-25 season, Jacoby and the Bulldogs have compiled a 25-5 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018. The 12th-ranked MSU team will continue their postseason journey in Waco, Texas on Friday against No. 4 Stanford.
Spearheading all recruiting efforts at MSU, Jacoby has ranked among the very best in the country, recruiting two of the ITA’s top eight incoming freshmen in 2020 and 2024.
“I would like to thank everyone in Starkville from Matt Roberts to the administration to the community, and especially to the players who made my six years there extremely special and successful,” Jacoby said. “I have grown so much as a person and coach and cannot be more appreciative of the relationships I made there.”Widely considered one of the top young coaches rising through the ranks of collegiate tennis, Jake Jacoby will bring his pedigree to the tradition-rich Ole Miss men’s program as its eighth head coach, as announced Monday by Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter.
“We have a proud and historic tennis legacy at Ole Miss, and it was imperative that we found a leader with a relentless drive to recreate that success. We have found that coach in Jake Jacoby,” Carter said. “It was clear from the onset of the search that Jake is highly respected in the industry and has proven to be an elite recruiter and developer of talent. He has helped build programs into championship contenders, and we could not be more excited to see his passion and determination impact our program for years to come.”
“I am extremely grateful to the Ole Miss search committee and specifically Wesley Owen, Jennifer Saxon, Eric Wood and Keith Carter for believing in me and my vision that I am confident we can make a reality for the men’s tennis program here in Oxford,” Jacoby said. “The rich tradition, commitment to excellence, support for all the sports programs, and fantastic administration are what excite me the most about the prospects for this team moving forward. I cannot wait to make Oxford home and get started building this program with a full commitment to fostering real relationships and setting new standards for the Rebels!”
Jacoby’s reputation as a rising star in college coaching is accompanied by personal accolades, earning ITA Southern Regional Assistant Coach of the Year honors twice in the last three years. Serving as the associate head coach at Mississippi State since June 2019, he helped lead the Bulldogs to the NCAA Championships in each full season he’s been in Starkville, including the Elite Eight this spring.
Jacoby has been on staff for four Round of 16 trips in five years, earning appearances in 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2021. During his tenure, he also assisted in the development of 12 All-SEC selections and eight NCAA individual tournament qualifiers.
