Rising Star Returns: BYU Forward Mihailo Boskovic Announces His Comeback for the 2025 Season, Eyes Leadership Role and Championship Push

Brigham Young University basketball fans received a major boost this week as standout forward Mihailo Boskovic officially announced his return for the 2025 season. The 6-foot-9 Serbian native, known for his versatility, work ethic, and court vision, has become a cornerstone of BYU’s rising basketball program. His decision to return not only solidifies the Cougars’ roster but also signals the team’s serious intentions for a championship run next season.

Boskovic made his announcement via social media, thanking Cougar Nation for their unwavering support and expressing his excitement to “run it back” with his teammates. “There’s unfinished business,” he wrote. “I’ve grown so much here—on and off the court. I’m ready to lead, to compete, and to chase a title with this brotherhood.”

Last season, Boskovic emerged as one of the most consistent performers for BYU, averaging 13.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. His ability to stretch the floor, attack the rim, and defend multiple positions made him a matchup nightmare for opponents and a vital piece in BYU’s offensive and defensive schemes. As a sophomore, he showed significant development, especially in his shooting and defensive IQ—something Head Coach Mark Pope frequently praised throughout the year.

“Mihailo’s maturity and hunger to improve are what set him apart,” Coach Pope said in a post-season interview. “He’s not just a talented player—he’s a culture guy. He sets the tone in the locker room, in practice, and in games.”

With Boskovic returning, the Cougars gain not only a statistical leader but also a voice and presence that younger players look up to. His leadership will be key, especially with BYU navigating a competitive Big 12 schedule and integrating new talent from the upcoming recruiting class.

Fans and analysts alike have already begun speculating about the possibilities for BYU next season. With Boskovic back in the fold, alongside a strong returning core and promising incoming recruits, the Cougars are poised to be a formidable force. Many believe this could be the team’s best shot at making a deep NCAA Tournament run in years.

Boskovic’s return also boosts his own trajectory. Another season with BYU gives him more time to develop and showcase his game in front of NBA scouts. He’s already been on the radar of international and professional teams, and a dominant junior campaign could elevate him into serious draft consideration.

Off the court, Boskovic has embraced the Provo community, engaging in outreach and becoming a fan favorite not just for his play, but for his humility and genuine personality. His return is more than just a boost for the basketball team—it’s a win for the entire BYU community.

As the 2025 season approaches, one thing is clear: with Mihailo Boskovic leading the charge, BYU basketball has a real shot at greatness. And Cougar Nation will be right there with him—every step of the way.
