Report: Miami Heat Interview Kam Jones, Come Away Impressed

The Miami Heat have reportedly shown significant interest in Marquette University guard Kam Jones following a recent interview at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine. According to Greg Sylvander of Five Reasons Sports, the Heat were “impressed” with Jones, who is projected by many analysts as a second-round prospect.

Jones, a senior guard, led the Golden Eagles in points and assists during the 2024–25 season, earning All-American honors and guiding Marquette to its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. His performance has caught the attention of the Heat’s front office, known for valuing players with strong work ethics and high basketball IQs.

Despite holding the No. 20 overall pick and no second-round selections in the upcoming draft, the Heat are considering their options. Sylvander noted that while No. 20 might be high for Jones, the team is exploring possibilities to acquire a second-round pick should he fall to that range.

Jones’ skill set aligns well with Miami’s culture. His defensive tenacity, combined with a versatile offensive game, makes him a potential fit in the Heat’s system. Over his collegiate career, Jones has demonstrated the ability to contribute both as a scorer and a facilitator, attributes that Miami values in its backcourt players.

As the draft approaches, the Heat’s interest in Jones underscores their commitment to finding players who embody the team’s ethos. Whether through the draft or other avenues, Miami appears keen on adding talent that can contribute immediately and uphold the franchise’s standards.
