Our program is heartbroken by the recent passing of former Nebraska Volleyball captain, Paige Hubl. A fierce competitor, loyal teammate, and inspiring leader, Paige embodied everything it meant to be a Husker—on and off the court.
Paige was a cornerstone of Nebraska Volleyball’s defensive line, known for her grit, discipline, and unyielding determination. During the 2012 season, she appeared in every match, a testament not only to her talent but to her relentless work ethic and commitment to her team. As captain, she led with quiet strength and humility, earning the respect of both her teammates and coaches.
“She was a Husker through and through,” said Head Coach John Cook. “I loved coaching Paige; our hearts go out to Paige’s family, friends, and former teammates.” His words echo the sentiment felt across the entire Nebraska Volleyball community. Paige left a mark not just as a player, but as a person—kind, driven, and always supportive of those around her.
Beyond the court, Paige represented the best of Nebraska Athletics. She pursued excellence in all areas of her life, always striving to uplift those around her. Whether it was welcoming new players, mentoring younger teammates, or volunteering her time to serve others, Paige’s leadership extended far beyond game day. She had a contagious energy that inspired those around her to be better—better athletes, better teammates, and better people.
In her honor, a memorial segment will be featured in an upcoming Netflix documentary series focusing on the legacy and tradition of Nebraska Volleyball. The series, which highlights the culture, triumphs, and impact of the program, will pay tribute to Paige’s contributions and the lasting impression she made. Her story will be woven into the larger narrative of what it means to be a Husker: to give your all, to support your team, and to never back down.
It’s hard to measure the depth of loss felt by Paige’s passing. For many of us, she was more than just a teammate—she was a sister, a mentor, a lifelong friend. Her presence in the locker room, her voice during practice, her leadership during tough matches—all of it mattered. And all of it will be missed.
As we reflect on her life and legacy, we honor her by continuing to uphold the values she lived by: resilience, unity, humility, and heart. Paige Hubl will always be a part of Nebraska Volleyball. Her name, her number, and her spirit remain woven into the fabric of our program.
We extend our deepest condolences to Paige’s family, loved ones, and the countless lives she touched. She may be gone, but her legacy continues to live on in every serve, every cheer, and every moment we step onto the court in her honor.
Thank you, Paige. For everything.
