SAD NEWS: Rangers’ appeal against Dujon Sterling’s red card has been denied.

Sterling will serve a two-match ban after the appeal failed.

Rangers’ appeal against defender Dujon Sterling’s red card against Aberdeen on Tuesday has been dismissed.

The Gers’ 2-1 cinch Premiership victory at Ibrox saw substitute Sterling shown a straight red by referee Don Robertson in the 88th minute for a tackle on Jack MacKenzie.

Robertson stuck with his decision despite the VAR asking him to check his pitchside monitor.

After Rangers appealed to the Scottish Football Association, a fast track tribunal hearing took place on Thursday with the outcome being that the claim was dismissed and the original sanction upheld.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement said of the incident following Tuesday’s game: “It was a harsh decision for me. Dujon slipped and he hits the toes of the opponent.”
