The Penn State football team recently continued its cherished tradition of visiting Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania. This annual event, eagerly anticipated by both players and patients, offers a meaningful opportunity for student-athletes to connect with young fans and bring joy to their hospital experience.
During the visit, players engaged in various activities with the children, including games, arts and crafts, and heartfelt conversations. These interactions not only uplift the spirits of the patients but also provide the athletes with a profound sense of perspective and community connection.
Head Coach James Franklin emphasized the significance of the visit, stating, “We truly appreciate the opportunity to be here and put smiles on people’s faces.” He highlighted how such experiences are integral to the holistic development of the players, reinforcing values of empathy and service beyond the football field.
The tradition, momentarily paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has resumed with renewed enthusiasm. For many of the players, especially the freshmen, this visit marks a memorable introduction to the broader responsibilities and privileges of being part of the Penn State community.
