Penn State Dominates 2025 Big Ten Wrestling Championship with Historic Team and Individual Titles
The Penn State Nittany Lions once again asserted their dominance over collegiate wrestling, capturing the 2025 Big Ten Wrestling Championship with a record-setting 181.5 team points β the highest in program history at the conference tournament. This title marks the ninth Big Ten championship under the leadership of legendary head coach Cael Sanderson.
Held at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the tournament saw five Penn State wrestlers take home individual championships, tying the school record for most individual Big Ten titles in a single year.
Freshman Luke Lilledahl (125 lbs) made an immediate impact, securing his first conference title in impressive fashion. At 157 pounds, Tyler Kasak put on a dominant display to win his bracket, followed by Mitchell Mesenbrink (165 lbs), who continued his unbeaten season with a statement victory. Levi Haines (174 lbs), a returning All-American, added to his growing list of accolades. And finally, Carter Starocci, competing up a weight class at 184 lbs, claimed his fourth Big Ten title.
In addition to the individual titles, all ten Penn State wrestlers placed, contributing valuable points in a deep and balanced team performance that overwhelmed the rest of the conference.
