Patty Gasso, head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners softball team, recently announced the commitment of pitcher Sophia Bordi, a rising star from New Jersey, to the program. Sophia Bordi hails from Haddon Heights, New Jersey, where she has established herself as a dominant force on the mound. She is a two-time Gatorade New Jersey Player of the Year and has led her high school team to two state championships. Notably, she threw a 20-strikeout no-hitter as a freshman and followed it up with a 16-strikeout perfect game in the 2023 state championship .
In addition to her high school achievements, Bordi has excelled in travel softball with the OC Batbusters, a program with a strong connection to Oklahoma’s coaching staff. Her performance with the Batbusters includes being named co-MVP of the Alliance National Championship and winning two Alliance National Championships in 2022 and 2023 .
