The Miami Hurricanes were not included in the top three schools for four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett. Bennett, a standout at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida, recently narrowed his list of top schools to three: Florida, Florida State and Georgia, excluding Miami. In the beginning of the recruitment process the Hurricanes had a strong position, but that seems to be gone.Bennett is recognized for his elite speed boasting a personal best of 10.4 seconds in the 100-meter dash. His junior season stats include 24 receptions for 509 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 21.2 yards per catch. Bennett is ranked as the No. 16 WR according to ESPN.Despite Miami extending an offer in early 2023, Bennett’s decision to exclude the Hurricanes from his final list just shows how competitive recruiting is in the Sunshine State. His upcoming official visits to Florida State (June 6–8) and Florida (June 13) will be a pivotal moment for him.
Currently, the Hurricanes have not secured a wide receiver commitment for this cycle, despite having a strong overall recruiting class ranked No. 7 nationally.
However, Miami remains in contention for other elite wide receivers. Five-star prospect Tristen Keys, the nation’s top-ranked receiver in the 2026 class, recently completed an official visit to Coral Gables. Although committed to LSU, Keys has expressed openness to reconsidering his decision, stating that Miami is “high for sure” on his list.Additionally, the Hurricanes are pursuing four-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton from Monroe High School in Rochester, New York. Hampton has included Miami in his top seven schools, alongside Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Syracuse, Michigan, and Georgia.
Under the guidance of wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, a former Miami player and national champion, the Hurricanes will continue to try to build their receiving corps. Miami was able to land multiple WR’s in the spring transfer portal window.
