Despite having one year of college eligibility remaining, Oweh says he’s laser-focused on taking the next step in his basketball career.
“I’m all in,” Oweh telling Aaron Fentress of Oregon Live. “I have one more year of eligibility, but my goal is to play in the NBA, so I’m not doing this process one foot in, one foot out.”
Oweh, a 6-foot-5 sophomore who averaged 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists last season, has drawn interest from several NBA teams thanks to his athleticism, defensive upside, and physical tools. While some mock drafts have projected him as a second-round pick or undrafted prospect, Oweh believes his ceiling is higher.
“I wouldn’t say it’s completely false, but I believe I’m a first-round guy,” he said. “So, I’m just gonna go through these workouts, give it my all, and then when it’s all said and done, I’ll see where I’m at and then I’ll make that decision.”
The NBA’s early entry withdrawal deadline for college players is May 29. Until then, Oweh will continue making his case through workouts and interviews, hoping to prove that his potential—and confidence—match the NBA standard.Otega Oweh isn’t hedging his bets.: Otega Oweh locked in on NBA dream during pre-draft workout with Blazers
