Only 1 SEC team didn’t have a single player picked during 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft was a big one for the SEC.

The SEC started the draft by tying its own record of 15 players selected in Round 1. It finished the draft with 79 players selected, a new record for draft picks from one conference. The old record of 65.

One SEC school, though, did not get in on the fun. Mississippi State was part of a small group of Power 4 teams to go without a player selected in 2025

MSU is coming off a disappointing 2-10 season that saw the Bulldogs go 0-8 in conference competition. It’s worth noting that Mississippi State’s roster was significantly impacted by back-to-back coaching changes.

The Bulldogs had a strong Year 3 under Mike Leach in 2022, going 8-4 before the coach’s tragic passing and adding a win in the bowl game. Zach Arnett was promoted from defensive coordinator to full-time head coach after Leach’s passing.

Arnett ditched the Air Raid offense for the 2023 season, which he did not complete. MSU then hired Jeff Lebby as head coach ahead of the 2024 season, another scheme change with more turnover.

The Bulldogs are hoping to turn things around in 2025 under Lebby. We’ll see if the Year 2 squad features any future NFL Draft picks.
