Once the roaring heart of Australian rules football through much of the 20th century, Victoria Park has long held a sacred place in the hearts of Collingwood supporters. Though the club moved its AFL home games to the MCG years ago, Victoria Park remained a spiritual landmark — a living museum of black-and-white passion. Now, it’s set to transform once again into a world-class facility blending modern amenities with historic character.

Club President Jeff Browne unveiled the redevelopment plans in a packed press conference this morning, declaring, “Victoria Park isn’t just bricks, grass, and stands — it’s Collingwood’s soul. This expansion is about honouring our past while building a home for our future.”

The $310 million project, set to begin construction in early 2026, will include:

A new grandstand capable of seating 12,000 fans with panoramic views of the field.

Upgraded player facilities, including cutting-edge recovery zones, training gyms, and a museum-style locker room celebrating Collingwood’s legends.

A public fan plaza with restaurants, merchandise stores, and interactive exhibits tracing the club’s rich history.

A dedicated women’s football centre, cementing Collingwood’s commitment to the AFLW and grassroots development.

Sustainability features such as solar roofing, water recycling, and accessible transport links for all supporters.

The expanded stadium is expected to host VFL, AFLW, and community events, while also serving as a training base for the senior AFL side. The design promises to capture the nostalgic charm of Victoria Park’s heritage — including the famous Sherrin Stand façade — while injecting new energy into the precinct.

Senior coach Craig McRae spoke with emotion about the news: “Every player who’s worn the black and white knows what Victoria Park means. To walk through those gates and feel that history gives you something special. Seeing it come alive again for a new generation — that’s magic.”

Fans have already flooded social media with excitement. Lifelong supporter groups, many of whom attended matches at Victoria Park in the 1980s and 1990s, described the announcement as “the best news in decades.”
