For the first time in program history, the Ole Miss Rebels softball team is heading to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS). The Rebels secured their historic berth by defeating No. 4 Arkansas in a best-of-three Super Regional series, clinching the decisive Game 3 with a 7–4 victory in Fayetteville on May 25.
Ole Miss’s journey to Oklahoma City began in the Tucson Regional, where they triumphed over nationally seeded Arizona twice and overcame Grand Canyon University, which entered the series on a 23-game winning streak. The Rebels’ postseason success has been fueled by standout performances from senior pitcher Brianna Lopez and two-way player Aliyah Binford, who boasts a .328 batting average with 12 home runs and a 3.58 ERA.
Under the leadership of head coach Jamie Trachsel, who previously guided Minnesota to the WCWS in 2019, the Rebels have achieved a 41–18 record this season. They are set to face fellow first-time WCWS participant Texas Tech on Thursday, May 29, at 6 p.m. CT, with the game broadcast on ESPN2.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for the Ole Miss softball program, reflecting years of dedication and growth. As they prepare to compete on the national stage, the Rebels carry the momentum of their historic season into Oklahoma City.
