Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff was charged with driving under the influence last week in Dublin, Ohio.
According to a Dublin Police report, McGuff was arrested last Tuesday evening in Dublin after a witness reported that a vehicle “struck several curbs and drove through the lawn of a residence.” McGuff failed multiple field sobriety tests at the scene, and he refused to give a breath sample to police.
Due to the totality of the circumstances including, Kevin’s car parked partially in his yard, Kevin not being able to roll down his window, unnatural duration it took to respond to basic questions, the poor performance of the in-car tests, the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, and the clues that I observed during his Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, I placed Kevin under arrest for OVI,” the responding officer wrote in the police report.
McGuff was released to his wife, Letitia, after his arrest was processed by the Dublin Police Department. His driver’s license was seized.
“The Department of Athletics is aware of an incident involving women’s basketball head coach Kevin McGuff,” Ohio State asid in a statement. “The department is in communication with Coach McGuff and monitoring the situation closely. This is an ongoing, personal legal matter, and the department will share additional information at the appropriate time.”
McGuff has been Ohio State’s head women’s basketball coach since 2013.
