Ohio State has placed quality control coach Joe Lyberger on administrative leave following an investigation by the university’s Office of Institutional Equity. Lyberger, a defensive assistant who has worked with the Buckeyes linebackers, was notified of his leave in December. The university is investigating allegations related to harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct, though specific details about the accusations remain unclear.
On December 27, Ohio State’s human resources department issued a letter informing Lyberger that he would be on leave immediately, barring him from the university’s facilities during the investigation.
Lyberger attorney, Sam Shamansky, stated, my client and I take any allegation of wrongdoing very seriously. We respect the process and look forward to the opportunity to defend him.
Lyberger, a graduate of Slippery Rock University, joined Ohio State’s staff in 2021, after previous coaching roles at Bucknell and Ohio Dominican. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as it progresses.
