Ohio State’s football team may have just secured its ninth national championship, but the biggest viral moment from their victory had nothing to do with the game itself. After the Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame 34-23 in the first-ever 12-team playoff final, head coach Ryan Day and quarterback Will Howard found themselves in an unexpected post-game accident—a golf cart crash in the stadium tunnel.
The incident happened when the driver of the cart lost control and slammed into a concrete wall, wedging the vehicle in a way that could only be described as something straight out of an Austin Powers movie. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the moment quickly took the internet by storm, amassing over 15 million views. Even Day himself recounted the story on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
But just when it seemed like the saga was over, Ohio State Men’s Golf Coach Jay Moseley decided to keep the laughs going. On Tuesday, he released a lighthearted golf cart training video poking fun at the now-infamous fender bender.
First off, let’s give a little love to the poor woman behind the wheel we hope she’s handling all of this in good spirits,Moseley joked in the video. He then offered some essential driving advice to golf cart operators everywhere: There’s this thing called reverse”use it.
Moseley also reminded drivers to be mindful of their passengers, especially when those passengers happen to be national champions.
They’re humans too, just like you, he quipped. Coach Day is a great tennis player who just happens to wear a headset on Saturdays, and Will Howard”well, he once tripped in the open field going for a touchdown. They’re normal people. They’ve got a lot of faith, so they’ll probably give you some grace. But remember: Reverse, don’t crash, stay safe, and go Bucks.
Wise words, coach.
