Ohio State freshman quarterback Tavien St. Clair is adding a prestigious honor to his collection. On Wednesday, the National High School Football Hall of Fame Board of Governors awarded St. Clair the 2025 Marcus Dupree National High School Player of the Year.
This recognition comes after the standout quarterback had a remarkable senior season at Bellefontaine High School in Ohio, where he threw for 2,536 yards and accounted for 38 total touchdowns. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, St. Clair showcased exceptional skill and leadership throughout the season.
LaMont Robinson, chairman of the Hall of Fame, praised St. Clair talent, saying,Tavien St. Clair has proven himself to be one of the most dynamic quarterbacks to ever grace the high school football stage. His remarkable talent and leadership qualities embody the essence of what this award stands for.
St. Clair will officially receive the award from Marcus Dupree at the third annual National High School Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Canton on June 14. The event will honor the best in high school football, including players, coaches, and others who have had a lasting impact on the sport.
Looking ahead, St. Clair will compete for Ohio State’s starting quarterback position in 2025, going up against fellow freshmen Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz. Head coach Ryan Day recently expressed his excitement about the competition, emphasizing the importance of leadership and dedication in the race for the starting role.These guys are going to compete their tails off, Day said.
