Ohio State football player Jeremiah Smith has once again shut down rumors of a potential transfer, this time using social media to make his stance clear. Despite multiple programs reportedly offering him NIL deals to leave Columbus, Smith has reaffirmed his commitment to the Buckeyes.
Since Ohio State’s national championship victory over Notre Dame on January 21, 2025, several programs have attempted to lure players away from the Buckeyes. Smith, a standout wide receiver, has been a primary target for these efforts. While specific schools haven’t been officially named, Miami has been heavily rumored to be among those pursuing him. Miami fans have long tried to sway Smith, even during his high school recruitment, but he ultimately chose Ohio State.
Smith took to social media to address the rumors, making it clear that he has no intention of leaving Ohio State. He also dismissed speculation about Michigan’s interest in him, further solidifying his loyalty to the Buckeyes.
Smith’s commitment to Ohio State is closely tied to wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, widely regarded as the best position coach in the country. As long as Hartline remains in Columbus, Smith is likely to stay as well. Smith understands that his best path to NFL success is through Hartline’s development, and NIL offers from other programs aren’t enough to sway him.
With at least two more years of college eligibility, Smith is poised to continue dominating Big Ten defenses. His performance during Ohio State’s national championship run showcased his ability to outmatch any cornerback in one-on-one coverage, and he’ll be a key player for the Buckeyes as they aim for another title in 2025.
