Ohio State Celebrates National Title Run with Fans at The Celebration of Champions Day

Ohio State euphoria over their first national championship in a decade continued on Sunday, as the team shared their victory with 30,000 fans at Ohio Stadium during the Celebration of Champions Day.The event, held in chilly 30-degree temperatures, featured an hour-long celebration that brought together students, alumni, and the Columbus community to honor the 2024 national champions.

The festivities began with a traditional gameday ramp entry from the Ohio State Marching Band, followed by cheers from the crowd as the Buckeyes, led by flag-waving mascot Brutus, made their way into the stadium. Ohio State new athletic director, Ross Bjork, kicked off the ceremony by praising the team bond and resilience, calling their championship run the greatest in college football history.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther both expressed their gratitude, with Ginther presenting a Champions Way street sign that will be placed outside the stadium. DeWine officially declared the day THE Celebration of Champions Day in Columbus.

Ohio State President Ted Carter reflected on the remarkable achievement, highlighting the team historic five wins over top-five opponents and emphasizing the significance of defensive end Jack Sawyer iconic 83-yard scoop-and-score against Texas.

Head coach Ryan Day then took the stage, leading the crowd in the famous O-H-I-Ochant. Day thanked his players, coaches, families, and fans for their support, acknowledging the role of faith in the team journey.

The Buckeyes four captains Jack Sawyer, TreVeyon Henderson, Emeka Egbuka, and Cody Simon spoke briefly but powerfully. Sawyer highlighted the team resilience, Henderson shared his faith journey, Egbuka praised his teammates as family, and Simon explained the deeper meaning behind the team fight mantra.

The celebration was not only about the championship but also about the bonds formed throughout the season, with Day walking fans through the key moments of Ohio State postseason run. Quarterback Will Howard humorously joined the stage, declaring himself a Buckeye forever.

The event capped off Ohio State historical season, cementing their place in college football lore and bringing together a community that witnessed the team remarkable achievement.
