Ohio State football wasted no time in filling its offensive coordinator vacancy. Just days after Chip Kelly left to join the Las Vegas Raiders, the Buckeyes promoted wide receivers coach Brian Hartline to the role, keeping the transition in-house.
This move directly impacts Ohio State’s recruiting class, including five-star wide receiver commit Chris Henry Jr., who shared his strong opinion on the decision via On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
“I love this move,” Henry stated. “Coach Hartline knows how to develop receivers better than anyone, and now with him as OC, I know he’s going to put us in the best position to dominate.”
Henry, the son of the late Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry, has been committed to Ohio State since July 2023—well before Kelly’s hiring as offensive coordinator. His recruitment was led by Hartline, who played a crucial role in securing the Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) standout.
